Welcome to my blog!

I am a portrait photographer in Florence, SC. I want to share with you my passion for capturing the beauty, energy and innocence that is in every child. I hope you will enjoy viewing portraits from my photography sessions and from time to time images and stories to keep you up to date on the happenings of the Sansbury household. Sit back and relax - browse through and reflect. Let these images tell the stories of our milestones and blessings! Check in often to see who has grown, who is walking and who will move their tassel in the months to come. I would love to hear your thoughts on my work. Please leave me a comment so I will know you stopped by. Thanks for your continued support.

Delightful Dawsey {Amy Sansbury Florence, SC children’s photographer}

September 14 2009

Dawsey is a regular client of mine and always a bright spot in my schedule. She is 10 months old with a huge, bright smile. Dawsey’s parents have commemorated her first year with a custom cover coffee table book from each session. Coffee table books are a fabulous way to display and enjoy your favorite portraits for generations to come. I want to share a few pages of Dawsey’s book with you! Enjoy.

Baby Love {Amy Sansbury Florence, SC newborn photographer}

August 20 2009

I love to photograph newborns! The adorable hands and feet, that irresistible newborn smell, and the way they wrap their hands around your finger make me swoon. My most recent newborn shoot was with beautiful Chandler. At only 8 days old, I had already heard about her stunning looks. Friends stopped me at the pool and at Harris Teeter to ask if I had seen the beautiful Chandler. Well they were right. Chandler’s session was wonderful. Here she is every bit as adorable as reported!

Back to School

August 18 2009

Few things excite me more than going back to school. I have always loved it. Call me a school geek if you will, but I will be up early on the first day. I love stuffing the new book bags full of the fresh supplies. Imagine the possibilities in a box of crayons where every tip is sharp and a notebook where not one line has yet been written on. Can you remember it?  Picking out that perfect outfit, heading to the bus stop or down the street - anxious to find out if your best friend is going to be in your homeroom. Even the learning excited me! Something new, something different - would I be wiser, would my horizons be broadened, maybe a new attitude?

I hope I pass on my love of school to my children. They came from a long line of educators so it should certainly be in their blood but I also want it to resonate in their spirits. I applaud all teachers and the like that go to school each day to touch the minds and hearts of our children. It is such an important task and even though cliché you really are shaping the future.

So far, I think I am doing a fair job of passing the torch. Jack and Kate were both up early Monday and reported fabulous first days. So here we go, if the enthusiasm could only last 179 more days! Keep up the good work and I will see you at school. If I miss you during lunch save your yeast roll for me!

Cookin’ Up some Fun {Amy Sansbury Florence, SC children’s photographer}

March 09 2009

I was cookin’ up some fun with my adorable nephew Travis. We pulled out all the props and had a wonderful time for his 4 month shoot. He is the spitting image of his daddy Steve. Steve loves to hunt so of course the camouflage shot is Steve’s favorite.

All smiles for Reid {Amy Sansbury Florence, SC portrait photographer}

February 28 2009

Reid was a pleasure to photograph. He is an adorable, happy 8 month old with such an agreeable personality! He just rolled with the flow and let us change his clothes several times no problem! Reid’s mom is Jack’s fabulous second grade teacher Mrs. Riley. We are big Mrs. Riley fans around the Sansbury household. Thanks for all you do everyday Mrs. Riley! Reid is precious. Here is a sneak peek.

Fabulous Four

February 16 2009

I had a great time with the four Emerson children Saturday. They showed me all around their magnificent yard. Sadly our first stop was the recent grave of one of their dearly departed pet dogs. Every step of the way was an adventure. Exploring the paths, swinging and jumping on the trampoline were all included in our afternoon fun. All four children were engaging, well mannered and as you can see very photogenic!! Thanks Emersons. Can’t wait to come back next time. Here is just a quick sneak peek!

A Special Family Session

February 07 2009

I recently had the priviledge of photographing a strong and beautiful Florence family - The Millers. In October, the Millers found out that their four year old little boy Kole had an inoperable brain tumor. When I heard about Kole from friends I immediately knew I wanted to do something to help the Miller’s through this difficult time of hospitals, treatments and stress. I contacted Lori through a mutual friend and we planned a session for fun, casual family portraits! All three of the Miller’s children are beautiful with strong spirits. I was impressed by how well they cooperated and got into the session. Precious Kole stole my heart and I hope I got some portraits that capture him the way his family and friends know him. I am sure the Miller’s would appreciate it if you could include Kole and the whole family in your prayers! Here you go Lori and Scottie! I hope you love them!

Be Mine

January 29 2009

It is that time of the year when love is in the air and Valentine cards will soon be exchanged! Nothing makes a statement like custom photo Valentines. I am lucky to have a very handsome group of young men to hightlight in my custom Valentine’s. Thanks guys.

Christening Gowns and Tutus

January 15 2009

I had been looking forward to Laura’a Christening Gown session for weeks. I like a classic indoor portrait. Laura was wonderful, but when she finally tired of the long dress and formal poses we stripped her down for some tutu shots!! What an adorable baby. Love that smile.

Gift of the Season!

January 11 2009

I had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with my family. I hope each of you did too. After all the hustle and bustle settles the New Year can really be an excellent time of reflection. I am so very blessed in my life with my family, husband, children, health, friends, church, career and my photography. And these are certainly the most important gifts we can ever receive.

I also wanted to share with you my favorite tangible gift of the season. It is a gorgeous multi media portrait of Jack and Kate by Melanie DuBose. It is truly stunning!  Melanie worked from a picture that I took of the children and created a masterpiece. You need to stop by and see it! I am posting a picture of the portrait but it does not do it justice, it is truly breathtaking in real life. The talented Melanie DuBose is available for commissioned portraits.
